Managing Director, Impact Strategy & Development, NASCAR

Eradicate Hate:
2023

As Managing Director, Impact Strategy & Development for NASCAR, Pete Stuart oversees the league’s strategies for sustainability, community engagement, STEM education, corporate volunteerism and other social initiatives. Pete led the development and launch of NASCAR IMPACT, the U.S. motorsport’s first umbrella platform for social responsibility, in April 2023.

Under Pete’s direction, NASCAR IMPACT will drive NASCAR’s pursuit of sustainability goals and efforts to reduce its carbon footprint. In addition, the new platform will shepherd community initiatives including a national partnership with Boys & Girls Clubs of America, as well as programs designed to connect students to NASCAR through STEM learning opportunities. Pete’s team will publish the league’s first annual NASCAR IMPACT Report measuring total impact and progress in the areas of sustainability, community engagement, and diversity, equity and inclusion.

Prior to building NASCAR’s social responsibility and impact arm, Pete was the strategic communications lead for the company’s brand marketing, fan development, DEI, community relations, and digital media functions. He joined NASCAR in 2014 following an eight-year tenure at Taylor, a leading sports marketing communications firm. As Vice President, he managed client relationships with top sports brands and sponsors including Allstate Insurance, Jordan Brand, Crown Royal and Gillette, among others.

Pete received his bachelor’s degree in Sports Management from James Madison University in 2003, and a master’s degree in Sports Leadership from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2005. He resides with his wife and two children in Charlotte, North Carolina.

It is a tragic reality that hateful ideology has found fertile ground online and offline, with consequences affecting not only Americans but people around the world. We cannot stand idle in the face of bias, bigotry, and extremism. Together, at the Eradicate Hate Summit and beyond, the collective will of individuals and organizations is needed to galvanize all people of good will to protect and defend our communities.
