Eradicate Hate Student Summit
The 2024 Student Summit, which took place on the second day of the 2024 Eradicate Hate Global Summit, drew about 300 young people and teachers from 29 school districts across Allegheny County, PA and the surrounding areas. In March 2025, we brough together 300 high school students across Allegheny County for the 2025 Eradicate Hate Student Summit Reconvening, which built on their amazing work from the 2024 Student Summit. Students connected with one another, presented on the progress of their projects since the Student Summit, and continued collaborative efforts to develop their own initiatives to prevent hate-fueled violence in their communities.
Students implemented in-school initiatives inspired by the Summit with $1,000 grants from the Grable Foundation. Initiatives included:
- DO NO HARM Week, with the goal of raising awareness and standing against hate, complete with in-school banners and swag
- Legacy Through Unity Student Summit replica, where various high schools gathered to hear from inspirational speakers, empowering them to come together and combat hate
One Student Summit chaperone noted the importance of the in-school grants in furthering Student Summit goals. “Overall, the grant allowed our students to move from awareness to action, empowering them to be changemakers and fostering a more inclusive, respectful school culture.”
