David Eisenman, MD, MSHS, (B.A, University of Pennsylvania, M.D., Albert Einstein College of Medicine, M.S.H.S. Fielding UCLA School of Public Health) is Professor in Residence at the David Geffen School of Medicine and the Fielding School of Public Health at UCLA, where he is the Director of the Center for Public Health and Disasters. He is also a Co-Director of the UCLA Center for Healthy Climate Solutions. Dr. Eisenman’s training is in internal medicine, primary care, public health, and health services research. For over 20 years, Dr. Eisenman has been funded by the National Institutes of Health, National Science Foundation, National Institute of Justice, U.S. Forest Service, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Department of Homeland Security, the Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response, and Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. His research is focused on public health and disasters, including wildfires, heat-waves and COVID-19, climate change, and violence. He has authored over one hundred scientific papers, chapters, and major reports. He has served on committees and expert panels for the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine, National Institute of Standards and Technology, National Institutes of Health, and national and international funding organizations. He was the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health Preparedness Science Officer from 2012-2016. Dr. Eisenman is also an Associate Natural Scientist at RAND. As the President of Resilience United, Dr. Eisenman provides consultation on disasters and emergencies including COVID-19 for industries, businesses, and communities. He provides frequent expert opinions to major media around the world. Dr. Eisenman is a Credentialed Physician for the Los Angeles County Emergency System for the Advance Registration of Volunteer Health Professionals Program (ESAR VHP). He holds a board certification in Internal Medicine and he cares for patients at the University of California, Los Angeles Medical Center.

My network of professionals working on countering hate in all its forms grew exponentially after attending Eradicate Hate in 2021. The myriad voices represented at Eradicate Hate, from big tech companies to academic researchers to those with lived experience, reinforced to me the importance of cross-cutting and collaborative approaches to counter hate and its devastating impacts on society. I’ve been fortunate to sustain and build those networks with many of those I met at Eradicate Hate in 2021.
