Eradicate Hate:
2022

Zeneta Everhart is the mother of Zaire Goodman, a grocery store worker who survived the tragic shooting at Tops Friendly Market in Buffalo on May 14, 2022.

In June, Ms. Everhart testified before the House Committee on Oversight and Reform about the need to address hate and gun violence. Since the shooting, Ms. Everhart and her son have organized a book drive that garnered almost 10,000 donated books to teach future generations about racism, diversity and inclusion. She is the Director of Diversity and Inclusion for New York State Senator Tim Kennedy.

This cannot be thought of as a conference or a summit. The stakes are simply too high and the data/conversation and methods to drive action more valuable/motivating than any gathering I have attended. I took more than 100 pages of notes and have shared them with my CBS News leadership team, anchors, producers, and correspondents. Nothing about this gathering was easy. The agony around this topic is real. But no one curious about it could ask for a more devoted, rational, or unflinching look into this dark but decipherable world.
