Shaun Ali is a Senior Justice Technical Assistance Specialist with WestEd’s Justice and Prevention team where he supports a variety of violence prevention and intervention initiatives. Primarily, Shaun supports the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania through training and technical assistance working directly with community-based organizations and local government agencies across the state that are implementing various violence prevention and intervention initiatives and strategies. Additionally, Shaun is a part of a team that developed the Violence Prevention Navigation Framework (VPNF), that provides a blueprint for local jurisdictions to prioritize, plan, and evaluate strategies to reduce current violence, prevent future violence, and co-create a sustainable system that improves outcomes for communities.
Additionally, Shaun has supported many states through the US Department of Education’s Center to Improve Social and Emotional Learning and School Safety, most notably by helping Ohio develop their Comprehensive School Safety Framework. Lastly, Shaun currently supports grantees funded by the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) focused on school and community partnerships to prevent youth violence.
The inaugural Eradicate Hate Summit was a truly impressive gathering of leaders dedicated to finding lasting and effective solutions to violent extremism. I was particularly moved by the prominence given to survivors and family members of victims of hate and violence throughout the event. Their stories and those of so many others must be at the center of what we do and why we do it.
