Following 20+ years in education, Rosen recognized the value of technology to business as well as to education and founded Micro Training Specialists Company in 1983. At the time, the concept of microcomputer training was so new that people called Micro Training Specialists Company for information on microwave cooking classes!
From 1983 to 1988, Micro Training Specialists Company stood as a leader in the Pittsburgh area. Having provided training to thousands of professionals throughout Pittsburgh and across the United States, Rosen never lost sight of her commitment to excellence.
Standing elite in this City, only Micro Training Specialists Company had achieved the degree of educational, philosophical, and service credentials that have made it the continual choice of major software publishers. When Lotus Development Corporation, Aldus Corporation, Microsoft, and MCI came to select training vendors who could best support their clients, Micro Training Specialists Company was selected time and time again. An additional list of authorizations include each of the major developers in the industry: Microrim, Borland International, MicroPro, and The Software Group.
The merger with PC Concepts in 1988 and the sale to Ziff Communications Company in 1990 were each strategic alliances to extend the high quality of support services from the Pittsburgh area throughout the United States.
Appearing weekly as KDKA Television’s computer expert on The Financial Section, Rosen also served as co-producer of the segment. The show featured innovative and improved hardware and software, focusing on effective and efficient use of technology.
Subsequently, as Principal & Director Corporate Affairs for Pressure Chemical Co., Rosen established a new sales and marketing thrust for this Pittsburgh-based chemical manufacturing concern with which she had been involved for thirty years.
Rosen has served on numerous community and professional boards, including the Association of Information System Professionals, the Jewish Community Center, the International Computer Training Association (an organization which she helped found in 1988) the Zionist Organization of America, and Rodef Shalom Congregation, the Board of the Jewish Education Institute, and the Boys and Girls Club of Western Pennsylvania. Today she is an active member of the Jewish Federation of Pittsburgh, serving as co-chair of the Lev Society and member of the Community Relations Committee (CRC). She is also an active docent at the Heinz History Center in Pittsburgh (2011 to present) and the Western Spirit Museum in Scottsdale (2015 to present) and an active volunteer with Classrooms Without Borders and StandWithUs Pittsburgh and the Holocaust Center of Phoenix AZ.
The effort to eradicate hate requires the active participation of every component of our society, to include governments, the private sector, communities of faith and indeed every aspect of civil society. There is no more urgent task in front of us. The organizers of the Eradicate Hate Global Summit are doing the United States and the world an enormous service by tackling hatred and extremism with a focus on honest dialogue and conversation, genuine learning and practical solutions. This will not happen overnight, but the Pittsburgh community’s leadership in this effort is genuinely inspiring and motivating.
