Melissa Muir J.D.
Senior Threat Management Consultant, Pinkerton
2025
With over 25 years of experience, I bridge the gap between human resources and security to help organizations build healthier, safer work environments. I have held HR leadership positions with the federal courts and local government in the Seattle area, and I now apply these skills to my consulting practice, helping both private and public sector clients navigate crises and implement effective prevention strategies.
As a leader with the Association of Threat Assessment Professionals (ATAP) for over 15 years, I have trained thousands globally on building effective partnerships between security, HR, and community stakeholders. I also represent Human Resources on Pinkerton’s Global Threat Management Group to deliver objective, informed, and holistic threat management solutions.

This cannot be thought of as a conference or a summit. The stakes are simply too high and the data/conversation and methods to drive action more valuable/motivating than any gathering I have attended. I took more than 100 pages of notes and have shared them with my CBS News leadership team, anchors, producers, and correspondents. Nothing about this gathering was easy. The agony around this topic is real. But no one curious about it could ask for a more devoted, rational, or unflinching look into this dark but decipherable world.
