Mekenah Jensen is an Insights Manager at Moonshot, where she manages comprehensive programs focused on building professional networks, developing capacity building initiatives, and creating innovative approaches for violence prevention professionals across multiple sectors.

Prior to Moonshot, Mekenah spent six years with the Colorado Department of Public Safety, where she managed Colorado’s statewide Preventing Targeted Violence Program. She secured over $3.5 million in federal grant funding and established the first Colorado State Strategy for Preventing Targeted Violence. She supervised analytic teams, provided consultation on complex behavioral threat assessments, and represented Colorado as a subject matter expert at national and international conferences on targeted violence prevention.

Mekenah holds a Master of Arts in International Studies and Graduate Certificate in Homeland Security from the University of Denver, and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Terrorism from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She is a Department of Homeland Security certified Master Trainer in Preventing Targeted Violence and is an active member of the Association of Threat Assessment Professionals (ATAP) Rocky Mountain Chapter.

The Summit was more than empty words – it made clear that a solution-driven approach is the only way to fight hate. That’s why the working group activities, which are results driven are going to be critical in defeating violent extremism. The Summit brought together the best minds in government, private sector, academia, and civil society. Being surrounded by these experts sparked new ideas – some of which I’ve already implemented or have written about.
