Mekenah leads a team of subject matter experts who provide awareness and actionable intelligence to partners through analysis, training, and collaboration in an effort to prevent threats to Colorado communities. She coordinates the Threat Liaison Officer (TLO) Program that strengthens information sharing across the state with over 500 public safety partners and leads the Colorado Preventing Targeted Violence (PTV) Program. Through the PTV Program, Mekenah established the first Colorado state strategy for preventing targeted violence outlining priorities and key activities to expand the state’s public health-informed approach to targeted violence prevention, focused on building awareness and capacity of communities and practitioners, establishing a collaborative ecosystem of partners and resources that are equity-informed and culturally responsive, and investing in sustainability to increase safety in Colorado communities.

Mekenah was formerly the Domestic Terrorism Analyst for the CIAC, providing intelligence analysis and training to local and national partners on the evolving threat of domestic terrorism. She also consulted on cases to identify domestic terrorism within Colorado.

Mekenah is a certified Targeted Violence Prevention Master Trainer, Terrorism Prevention Master Trainer, a member of the Association of Threat Assessment Professionals (ATAP), and a member of the Safe States Alliance. She holds an M.A. in International Studies and Certificate in Homeland Security from the University of Denver Josef Korbel School of International Studies and a B.A. in Political Science with a focus in Terrorism and East Asian Studies from the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana. In her free time, Mekenah enjoys exploring new restaurants and coffee shops, and getting outdoors with her husband, son, and two dogs.

My network of professionals working on countering hate in all its forms grew exponentially after attending Eradicate Hate in 2021. The myriad voices represented at Eradicate Hate, from big tech companies to academic researchers to those with lived experience, reinforced to me the importance of cross-cutting and collaborative approaches to counter hate and its devastating impacts on society. I’ve been fortunate to sustain and build those networks with many of those I met at Eradicate Hate in 2021.
