Dr. Matt Talbot is an internationally recognized expert in behavioral threat assessment and management, violence risk assessment, forensic mental health, workplace violence prevention, and keynote presenter. His extensive experience in assessing and managing violent offenders, individuals at risk for violence toward self and others, intimate-partner violence, and program development and operations in corporate and healthcare settings has established Dr. Talbot as a recognized leader in the violence prevention industry. Key accomplishments include:

​​Corporate and Healthcare Leadership:

  • Developed and operationalized a robust workplace violence prevention and BTAM programs for fortune 50 company and major healthcare institution.
  • Established educational violence prevention program for graduate level healthcare and medical professionals.

​Behavioral Threat Assessment and Management (BTAM):

  • Recognized as a Subject Matter Expert in BTAM.
  • Developed the first collegiate certificate program in BTAM for Alliant University in 2021.
  • Trained to use multiple Structured Professional Judgment tools including: HCR-20 V3, WAVR-21, SAVRY, SARA, Danger Assessment, SAM V2, AVRT (Triage), PATRIARCH, Multi-Level Guidelines (MLG), Guidelines for Self-Directed Violence, and the TRAP-18.
  • Supported statewide BTAM strategies and initiatives in Texas.

​Thought Leadership and International Contributions:

  • Founding member of Global Team Collaborative (GTC), a nonprofit dedicated to supporting risk management teams across sectors.
  • Instructor at the Gavin de Becker Advanced Threat Academy.
  • President of the South Central Chapter of the Association of Threat Assessment Professionals (ATAP).
  • Established and led development of ATAP Mentorship Program (in process)
  • Sought-after speaker and keynote presenter at hundreds of events, including ATAP, CATAP, AfATAP, GSX, FBI, ITAC, DITMAC, and numerous schools, universities, government, and law enforcement agencies.
  • Legislative advocacy on Capitol Hill to foster a national BTAM initiative.

​Relevant Qualifications:

  • Earned a PhD in Forensic Psychology
  • Clinically licensed social worker in AZ, GA, IN, MA, TN, and TX
  • Certified Threat Manager (CTM), Certified Forensic Mental Health Evaluator (CFMHE), and a Clinically Certified Forensic Counselor (CCFC)

The catalytic power of this Summit in bringing together those who are devoting their lives to pushing back and working to confront, understand and work towards solutions around hate in our society is a noble and difficult task. The Summit not only energized those who attended but led to connecting the dots in a global network of those doing this work. The stories of the victims of hate were painful to witness but their courage in coming forward was inspirational. Those who attended left energized with the hope that by working together solutions can be forged.
