Laura Ellsworth is a partner at Jones Day, which has more than 2500 lawyers in 43 offices on 5 continents. Having served as the Partner-in-Charge of the Pittsburgh Office for over a decade, she then became Jones Day’s first Partner-in-Charge of Global Community Service Initiatives, spearheading the Firm’s rule of law initiatives around the world. This work includes the pro bono representation of clients who have been the victims of hate crimes and the development of rule of law initiatives to combat hate crimes around the world. In Pittsburgh specifically, Laura has been active in civic and community affairs, serving in leadership roles on the Allegheny Conference on Community Development, the Greater Pittsburgh Chamber of Commerce, the Three Rivers Workforce Investment Board and the United Way Women’s Leadership Council. She has served on public company and civic/charitable boards, including FNB Corporation, McCune Foundation, Pittsburgh Foundation, Imani Christian Academy, Waynesburg University and the University of Pittsburgh Institute of Politics. Laura serves as the Co-Chair of the Steering Committee for Eradicate Hate and is a member of the Steering Committee for the Collaboratory Against Hate Research and Action Center.

The Summit unites the public and private sectors, domestic and international, against hate and extremism. Researchers, activists, lawyers, technology experts, political leaders, and more come together, each bringing their unique tools to the fight. Important relationships that were established at the Summit in 2021 have carried forward into working groups with concrete deliverables for 2022 and beyond.
