Eradicate Hate:
2022

Jenna Fagan joined the Auschwitz Institute in February of 2022 as the Program Officer for the REPAIR program. She received an M.A. in Holocaust & Genocide Studies from West Chester University in West Chester, Pennsylvania in 2018. While there, she had the opportunity to present her work internationally in Brisbane, Australia, and traveled to Germany and Poland for field research. In 2021, she received an M.A. in History from Lehigh University where her research focused on the assessment of perpetrators by scholars in genocide periodicals. Her work also discussed perpetrators’ capacity and levels of culpability relating to genocide and mass atrocities. Jenna has also done comparative work on the trials and sentencing of perpetrators, the history of human rights as an ideal concept, and worked with survivors of genocide to create oral history archives.

The effort to eradicate hate requires the active participation of every component of our society, to include governments, the private sector, communities of faith and indeed every aspect of civil society. There is no more urgent task in front of us. The organizers of the Eradicate Hate Global Summit are doing the United States and the world an enormous service by tackling hatred and extremism with a focus on honest dialogue and conversation, genuine learning and practical solutions. This will not happen overnight, but the Pittsburgh community’s leadership in this effort is genuinely inspiring and motivating.
