Huey Fischer García is an anti-extremism attorney with the Southern Poverty Law Center. He investigates and litigates against antigovernment militias, neo-Nazi groups, and white supremacy networks across the United States. He is currently lead attorney in a lawsuit on behalf of a young, biracial man against the Goyim Defense League, an antisemitic group, for its hate campaign that harassed people of color and the Jewish community in Nashville. When investigating hate groups, he often seeks out local faith leaders to get a pulse on how to adequately respond to hate incidents.
Before joining SPLC, Huey worked as a commercial litigator in San Antonio and clerked for the Hon. Susie Morgan in New Orleans. He holds a B.A. in Latin American Studies and a J.D. from the University of Texas at Austin. In his community, he is past president of the Texas Exes New Orleans Chapter and sits on the boards of Forum for Equality Louisiana and the New Orleans Federal Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Division. He attends Immaculate Conception Jesuit Church.
