Harsirat (her-see-rut) Kaur is a community organizer at South Asian Network, a nonprofit organization based in SoCal that offers support to low-income South Asians living in the area with public benefits, citizenship application assistance, language support, domestic violence support, mental health, and hate crime support. Ms. Kaur holds a bachelor’s degree in economics and a master’s degree in communication. She has over three years of experience working in the advocacy and policy sector for the Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) community. Additionally, she enjoys reading, cooking, and sleeping.
The catalytic power of this Summit in bringing together those who are devoting their lives to pushing back and working to confront, understand and work towards solutions around hate in our society is a noble and difficult task. The Summit not only energized those who attended but led to connecting the dots in a global network of those doing this work. The stories of the victims of hate were painful to witness but their courage in coming forward was inspirational. Those who attended left energized with the hope that by working together solutions can be forged.
