Farhat Mir was born and raised in Pakistan. Farhat has a BS degree in Criminal justice & Homeland Security and a BA degree in Journalism. She is the first female Muslim police officer for Las Vegas Metropolitan police department currently working with one of Nevada’s Fusion Center, Southern Nevada Counter Terrorism Center. Farhat Promotes and teaches the Department of Homeland Security national “See Something Say Something” Campaign ‘US Violent Extremist mobilization Indicators and National Suspicious Activity Reporting Initiative (SAR). Oversee Operation Vigilance which is geared towards increasing situational awareness for mass violence and terrorism prevention. Farhat work closely with all the houses of worship in Clark County Nevada to teach them how to prevent mass violence and terrorism including targeted violence and racially ethnically motivated violence.

Farhat is a professional with over 16 years of administrative and operational management experience in Pakistan and the United States of America. Before moving to the United States of America Farhat worked with UN’S World Food program, The World Bank, USAID and as a journalist with print and electronic media.

Farhat understands and takes threats of violence very seriously and proactively work in a partnership with the community to empower community members in understanding and preventing mass violence and terrorism.

Farhat is an advocate of peace, harmony and inclusion and created an interfaith group while working at the area command to bring people from all major faiths together to share their knowledge and celebrate high holidays together.

Farhat love to play golf, travel and learn about different cultures. Farhat has travelled more than twenty countries

The Summit was more than empty words – it made clear that a solution-driven approach is the only way to fight hate. That’s why the working group activities, which are results driven are going to be critical in defeating violent extremism. The Summit brought together the best minds in government, private sector, academia, and civil society. Being surrounded by these experts sparked new ideas – some of which I’ve already implemented or have written about.
