Eric R. Patterson is a Special Agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Special Agent Patterson joined the FBI in 2002, and he currently serves as the Threat Management Coordinator for the FBI – Philadelphia Field Office. As the Threat Management Coordinator, Special Agent Patterson is responsible for designing and implementing the FBI-Philadelphia Field Office’s Preventing Targeted Violence Strategy. Special Agent Patterson serves as the Coordinator for the FBI ‘s Community Anti-Threats Officer (CATO) Program, which trains local, county, state and federal law enforcement officers, probation & parole officers, and school resource officers on best practices for preventing targeted acts of violence. Special Agent Patterson serves as a Co-Coordinator for the Community Anti-Threat Team (CATT) Program, which provides best practices and training for multi-disciplinary Threat Assessment Threat Management (TATM) Teams throughout the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Special Agent Patterson serves as a member of the Pennsylvania Threat Assessment Steering Committee (PA-TASC) and as an advisor for the New Jersey Statewide Threat Assessment Team (NJ-STAT) Steering Committee. Outside of his roles with the FBI, Special Agent Patterson serves as an Academic Advisor at the University of Pennsylvania’s Master of Applied Positive Psychology (MAPP) Program and previously served as an Adjunct Professor at Penn State Harrisburg ‘s Criminal Justice Program.

The catalytic power of this Summit in bringing together those who are devoting their lives to pushing back and working to confront, understand and work towards solutions around hate in our society is a noble and difficult task. The Summit not only energized those who attended but led to connecting the dots in a global network of those doing this work. The stories of the victims of hate were painful to witness but their courage in coming forward was inspirational. Those who attended left energized with the hope that by working together solutions can be forged.
