Emily Farris is an associate professor of political science at Texas Christian University. Her research in American politics focuses on local politics, in particular the politics of sheriffs with a forthcoming book with Mirya Holman titled Power of the Badge: Sheriffs and Inequality in the U.S. She received her MA and PhD from Brown University and BA from Furman University.
The Summit offers a unique opportunity to confront the corrosive influence of bigotry and hatred in our society. In order for us to address these challenges, we first must acknowledge their painful and destructive impact in our communities and in our country. I am grateful to serve as a Global Advisor to this timely and powerful initiative.
