Dr. Shannon Poe, LCSW currently serves as the Director of Programming and Services for Life After Hate where she coordinates the culturally competent referral network of mental health providers and conducts risk-of-harm screenings for all participants. Since 2010, Shannon has worked in violence prevention with both community-based and local government-based violence prevention and intervention efforts. She has worked specifically with reducing shootings and murder rates around gang involved individuals by providing social service model interventions as an alternative in New Orleans and Chicago. She also worked with school aged youth to reduce violence and drug use among school-aged children.
Shannon has done both qualitative and quantitative research in the areas of resiliency, community services for gang involved and returning citizens, and substance use among youth. She also consults with various organizations in the United Kingdom on the topics of gang and youth violence prevention.

Shannon currently is an LCSW specializing in trauma, grief, and loss. She focuses on the Mind- Body connection and has advanced training in EMDR, Clinical Hypnosis, and Advanced Mind-Body Medicine. For fun, Shannon loves to travel, play competitive skee-ball (yes, that is real), and sing along to the entire Hamilton soundtrack.

It is a tragic reality that hateful ideology has found fertile ground online and offline, with consequences affecting not only Americans but people around the world. We cannot stand idle in the face of bias, bigotry, and extremism. Together, at the Eradicate Hate Summit and beyond, the collective will of individuals and organizations is needed to galvanize all people of good will to protect and defend our communities.
