Danny Goldberg is an Assistant State’s Attorney with the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office, where he serves as a prosecutor in the Hate Crimes Unit. His work includes prosecuting bias-motivated crimes, coordinating with law enforcement, and engaging with community and government partners to strengthen Cook County’s response to hate crimes.

His work has included developing the office’s Hate Crime Specialist Program, which brings together prosecutors from across the office to develop expertise in hate-crime investigations and prosecutions. Goldberg also provides training to prosecutors and law enforcement personnel, conducts community outreach, and has connected with prosecutors and law enforcement agencies across the country to exchange best practices and strengthen interagency coordination.

Goldberg has served as lead prosecutor in significant hate-crime cases, including the attempted murder of a gay man, which resulted in a guilty plea and an 18-year prison sentence, and an antisemitic attack on two Jewish students which resulted in a guilty plea to two felony hate-crime counts. Goldberg has also been designated as a Cybercrime Specialist by the Cook County State’s Attorney.

Goldberg earned his J.D. from the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at Arizona State University and his B.A., summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa, from Arizona State University’s Barrett, The Honors College. His undergraduate thesis examined antisemitism in the United States. He was recognized by the Jewish United Fund of Metropolitan Chicago as one of its “36 Under 36.”
