Brian Sun is a seasoned trial lawyer experienced in complex business litigation, white collar criminal defense and multijurisdictional investigation matters. His litigation practice covers a range of areas, including matters involving unfair competition, intellectual property, commercial bribery, public corruption, entertainment, shareholder rights, contractual disputes, fraud and cross-border issues.

A Fellow with the American College of Trial Lawyers, Sun is recognized by Chambers USA in its top tier for California: White Collar Crime and Government Investigations and also appears on the Lawdragon 500 Leading Lawyers of America list. He has been honored with the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association’s (NAPABA) Trailblazer Award, the National Diversity Council’s Multicultural Leadership Award and the Southern California Chinese Lawyers Association’s Lifetime Achievement Award.

Sun served as a deputy general counsel to the Christopher Commission, which recommended sweeping reforms of the Los Angeles Police Department in the wake of the Rodney King incident. A former federal prosecutor, Sun was Chief of the Financial Investigations Unit of the US Department of Justice and Assistant US Attorney of the Criminal Division of the US Attorney’s Office in Los Angeles early in his career. He also served as Law Clerk to the Honorable A. Andrew Hauk for the US District Court of the Central District of California.

Sun is a co-founder and board member of the Alliance for Asian American Justice, a group of up to 90 law firms and 17 General Counsel from Fortune 1000 companies devoting pro bono legal resources to the support and representation of victims of anti-Asian hate crimes and harassment.

It is a tragic reality that hateful ideology has found fertile ground online and offline, with consequences affecting not only Americans but people around the world. We cannot stand idle in the face of bias, bigotry, and extremism. Together, at the Eradicate Hate Summit and beyond, the collective will of individuals and organizations is needed to galvanize all people of good will to protect and defend our communities.
