Astrid Askenberger is a research analyst at the Swedish Center for Preventing Violent Extremism (CVE). Prior to joining CVE, Astrid was co-founder and research lead at the non-profit organization Diverting Hate, which works to prevent violent misogyny. She holds an MA in Non-proliferation and Terrorism Studies from Middlebury Institute of International Studies, and a BA in Human Rights from the University of Lund. She specializes in gender-based extremism and terrorism, and frequently advises government and the private sector entities.
It is a tragic reality that hateful ideology has found fertile ground online and offline, with consequences affecting not only Americans but people around the world. We cannot stand idle in the face of bias, bigotry, and extremism. Together, at the Eradicate Hate Summit and beyond, the collective will of individuals and organizations is needed to galvanize all people of good will to protect and defend our communities.
