The Rev. Liddy Barlow has served as Executive Minister of Christian Associates of Southwest Pennsylvania since 2014. For over 50 years, Christian Associates has convened the diverse Christians of Greater Pittsburgh to build relationships, serve the common good, and build bridges with interfaith partners. Rev. Barlow coordinates all of Christian Associates’ projects and programs, including the Council of Bishops & Executives, the “We Have to Talk” network of interfaith spiritual leaders, and the “Reckoning with Antisemitism as Christians” initiative. Rev. Barlow is the Moderator of the Penn West Conference of the United Church of Christ. In 2019, the General Synod of the United Church of Christ honored her with the Antoinette Brown Award, presented to trailblazing women in ministry. Rev. Barlow grew up in New Hampshire and attended Mount Holyoke College and Andover Newton Theological School. She lives in Pittsburgh’s East Liberty neighborhood with her husband Gregory and their two children, Pippa and Edmund.

The Summit was more than empty words – it made clear that a solution-driven approach is the only way to fight hate. That’s why the working group activities, which are results driven are going to be critical in defeating violent extremism. The Summit brought together the best minds in government, private sector, academia, and civil society. Being surrounded by these experts sparked new ideas – some of which I’ve already implemented or have written about.
