Following a career with the federal government of Germany from 2001 to 2011, within the private sector from 2011 to 2013 and as a member and Coordinator of the ISIL, al-Qaida and Taliban Monitoring Team of the United Nations Security Council until 2018, where he advised the member of the Security Council on global counter terrorism sanctions, Dr. Hans-Jakob Schindler currently serves as the Senior Director of the Counter Extremism Project (CEP).

In addition, he is the chair of the advisory board of BerFin Advisory and co-founder of the Berlin Anti Financial Crime Forum, co-chair of the Advisory Board of the Global Diplomatic Forum (GDF) in London, a member of the international advisory board of the Global Counter Terrorism Council (GCTC) in India, a member of the Board of Directors of Compliance and Capacity Skills International (CCSI) in New York and London. He also works as a teaching fellow at the academy for Security in the Economy (ASW Akademie AG) in Essen and chairs an UNODC-GPML project in Vienna bringing together financial investigators from government authorities focusing on combatting the financing of violent extremism.

His work concentrates on regulatory approaches to mitigate the misuse of new technologies by terrorist and extremists, international sanctions, including counter terrorism sanctions, and combatting financial crime, including effective measures to counter the financing of terrorism and extremism. In this regard, he is cooperating with governments in North America and Europe as well as at the level of the European Union.

Having studied in Tübingen, Germany, Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., St Andrews University, Scotland and Tel Aviv University, Israel, he holds a Masters and PhD degree in international terrorism from St Andrews University.

To me, Eradicate Hate was the most important gathering of 2021 for those of us who work on issues related to domestic extremism and organized hate. The Summit uniquely combined a variety of perspectives, including experts, civil society representatives, politicians and policymakers, and the families and loved ones of victims. Eradicate Hate has the important mission of standing against the rising tide of hate and extremism in our society, and it’s an honor to be able to support this mission.
