Susan (Susie) Baker Shipley is president of the Western Pennsylvania and Ohio Valley Region of Huntington Bank.
Shipley has more than 25 years of banking experience in local, national and international markets. A native Pittsburgher, Shipley joined Huntington 2012 from The Royal Bank of Scotland/Citizens Bank, where she was head of global trade finance for North America.
Shipley is chair of the Port of Pittsburgh Commission as well as serving on boards through the Allegheny Conference on Community Development, Pennsylvania Economy League of Greater Pittsburgh, Manchester Bidwell Corporation, UPMC, UPMC Health Plan, Pittsburgh Opera, The Andy Warhol Museum, The Duquesne Club, Legatus Pittsburgh Chapter and International Women’s Forum Pittsburgh Chapter. Shipley also serves as co-chair of the Major Gifts Committee of the Pittsburgh Promise.
Shipley has also been named one of the “Best 50 Women in Business” in Pennsylvania, Distinguished Alumna by the University of Pittsburgh Katz Graduate School of Business and an Athena International finalist. She was honored as a Pittsburgh Business Times Woman in Business award winner and an Oakland Catholic Leading Lady as well as a Woman of Distinction in Business by the Girls Scouts of Western Pennsylvania.
Shipley has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Notre Dame, a Certificate in Spanish Studies from the Universidad de Navarra, Pamplona, Spain and a master’s in business administration from the University of Pittsburgh’s Katz Graduate School of Business. She is a Rotary International Foundation Scholarship recipient as well as a Rotary Paul Harris Fellow.
The effort to eradicate hate requires the active participation of every component of our society, to include governments, the private sector, communities of faith and indeed every aspect of civil society. There is no more urgent task in front of us. The organizers of the Eradicate Hate Global Summit are doing the United States and the world an enormous service by tackling hatred and extremism with a focus on honest dialogue and conversation, genuine learning and practical solutions. This will not happen overnight, but the Pittsburgh community’s leadership in this effort is genuinely inspiring and motivating.
