Nick Haberman (he/him) is a 4th generation Social Studies Teacher from Pittsburgh PA. Since 2018, he’s been on special assignment with the Holocaust Center of Pittsburgh as the Founder and Director of the LIGHT Education Initiative. LIGHT, an acronym for “Leadership through Innovation in Genocide and Human rights Teaching,” supports educators on their quest to “Inspire, Prepare, and Empower the next generation of humanitarians” through profound and transformative opportunities. LIGHT helps school districts meet their own inherent capacity to counter all forms of identity-based hate. Nick is a former “Holocaust Educator of the Year,” a USHMM Museum Teacher Fellow, and a “Master Teacher of the Holocaust.”
The Summit offers a unique opportunity to confront the corrosive influence of bigotry and hatred in our society. In order for us to address these challenges, we first must acknowledge their painful and destructive impact in our communities and in our country. I am grateful to serve as a Global Advisor to this timely and powerful initiative.
