David Shribman was executive editor of the Post-Gazette from 2003 to 2019 and currently is Executive Editor Emeritus. He writes a nationally syndicated column in the U.S., prepares a separate column on Americans affairs for the Globe and Mail (the national newspaper of Canada), and is scholar in residence at Carnegie Mellon University. He came to Pittsburgh from The Boston Globe, where he was assistant managing editor, columnist and Washington bureau chief. Prior to that, he served as national political correspondent for The Wall Street Journal, covered Congress and national politics for The New York Times, and was a member of the national staff of The Washington Star. Shribman was awarded the Pulitzer Prize in 1995 for his writing on Washington and the American political scene. He led the coverage of the Tree of Life synagogue massacre that won the 2019 Pulitzer Prize. He is a member of the selection committee for the Profiles in Courage Award given by the John F. Kennedy Library Foundation and of the George H.W. Bush Service Award given by the Bush Library.
