Richard (Dic) Donohue, Jr.
Policy Researcher (PhD, Criminology and Criminal Justice), Director of the RAND Center for Quality Policing
Dr. Donohue is the Director of the RAND Center for Quality Policing, where his research focuses on topics critical to policing and homeland security. He has completed studies to mitigate and prevent mass shootings, assess the state of terrorism data to support national security, and provide direction for the City of Charlotte on alternative response models and disparities in public safety. Dr. Donohue previously served as a police officer and sergeant with the MBTA Transit Police Department where he earned the George L. Hanna Medal of Honor and the National Association of Police Organization’s Top Cops award. He is a nationally recognized subject matter expert in law enforcement training and serves as an instructor with the Bureau of Justice Assistance’s VALOR Officer Safety and Wellness program. Donohue is a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police Education and Training Policy Committee.
