Senior Advisor, U.S. Department of State Bureau of Counterterrorism
Michael Duffin is a non-resident fellow at Ghent University’s Institute for International Research on Criminal Policy and a senior advisor on Countering Violent Extremism in the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Counterterrorism, where he oversees efforts on countering racially or ethnically motivated violent extremism (REMVE) and engagement with the Strong Cities Network. He began his State Department career as a Presidential Management Fellow (PMF) in 2013, and is a six-time recipient of the Meritorious Honor Award and a recipient of the Franklin Award. Duffin earned a Master of Public Diplomacy from the University of Southern California, a Master of International Public Policy from Johns Hopkins University and a Master of Science in Journalism from Northwestern University.
