She has been nominated for Poland’s most important journalism prizes and awarded the prestigious Grand Press in 2017. In January 2020, she revealed manipulations of the prosecutor’s office in the investigation against the assassin of Paweł Adamowicz. As a result, the same prosecutor’s office initiated another investigation, only this time regarding Katarzyna Włodkowska’s reporting. This decision gathered the attention of international organizations monitoring press freedom, including Reporters Without Borders and Article 19. The following year, at the request of the prosecutor’s office, the court agreed to force Włodkowska to reveal her source. Despite threatened with arrest, she refused to disclose the identity of the informant.
