Humera Khan

President & Co-Founder of Muflehun

Humera Khan is the President and co-founder of Muflehun, and a subject matter expert in preventing, countering, and mitigating extremist violence and hate. She is the Technical Lead on the DHS funded project Community Resilience Early Warning System (CREWS) and Master Trainer on the Tackle! Upstander Training project. She also leads the technical team on the DNA program for gun violence prevention.

Previously, Humera was the Strategic Advisor to the Assistant-Secretary General of the UN Security Council Counter-Terrorism Committee Executive Directorate (CTED), and also managed the CVE & Countering Terrorist Narrative portfolio. Humera was a co-investigator for a DOD MINERVA project on the use of “Mobilizing Media” by terrorist organizations. 

Her subject matter expertise is sought by multiple agencies and organizations including UN CTED, UN OCT, GCTF, GCERF, US Dept of State, USAID, DOD and OSCE. She has testified before the US Congress about Muflehun’s work and has received the FBI Director’s Community Leadership Award.

Humera holds four degrees from MIT: SM Technology & Policy, SM Nuclear Engineering, SB Art & Design and SB Nuclear Engineering. She also has an MA in Islamic Studies from an affiliate seminary of the Washington Theological Consortium.
